CINCINNATI — It was July 2, and construction companies were already beginning work on a $7.9 billion stadium in downtown Cincinnati.
The city had agreed to buy the land for $2.7 billion.
The deal has yet to be finalized.
What the new arena will actually look like is unclear.
Construction is scheduled to begin on the facility in 2019.
The site is home to the Bengals, which are scheduled to play their first home game in 2021.
The $7 billion stadium is the largest project in the city’s history and will be the largest stadium in Ohio.
The Bengals have not announced the name of the new stadium.
The team has said the name is still being finalized.
As the site was being finalized, the team began to negotiate the deal with the city.
The NFL is negotiating with the county on a deal to use the property, which will be built by the Ohio Department of Transportation and include a stadium.
That deal is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
